Just UsRick and Wanda Felty have over 35 years of experience in photography and advocating for people with disabilities.

 

Rick Felty has been a professional photographer in the field of news and public relations since 1979. He has worked in the Office of Communications (Public Relations Office) for the Oklahoma State Department of Health since 1990 marketing, writing, photography and and managing the agency's Web presence. Before that he was editor of the Moore American newspaper and several semi-weekly papers in southern Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle and has had photographs appear in publications such as the Sunday Oklahoman, Wichita Falls Record News, Lawton Magazine, Texoma Magazine, Moore American, Moore, OK. Brownfield News, Brownfield, TX, the Sayre Journal, Sayre, OK and numerous publications for state agencies. In 2007, he and his wife Wanda created the first r-Word Campaign Website which became recognized nationally in 2008. He currently serves on the board of directors of Oklahoma People First. Having two younger brothers with developmental disabilities, he has been involved in the lives of people with disabilities for over 35 years.

 

Wanda Felty is a professional in the field of Family Advocacy. She is a graduate of the "Partners in Policymaking" program, Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council and a Fellow for Oklahoma Interdisciplinary Leadership Education for Health Professionals Caring for Children with Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) in the Family Perspective discipline. Currently, she is Family Faculty for the Oklahoma LEND program and works with the Center for Learning and Leadership, Oklahoma's UCEDD as their Community Leadership and Advocacy Coordinator. She is a family mentor for the Oklahoma Family Network, a parent to parent mentoring and support program across the state of Oklahoma. She has been a commissioner for the Oklahoma Commission for Children and Youth for four years, serves on the Oklahoma Family Leadership Council and is Co-Chair for the Self Directed Services Advisory Committee. Wanda has been the coordinator and facilitator for the DDSD Waiting List meeting for the past seven years, supporting families from the DDSD waiting list to meet with state policy makers, agency leaders and legislators. Along with all this, she servers on advisory boards, task force and committees from OKHDS' DDSD, OHCA and ODDC, representing the perspective of families who have children with developmental disabilities. p

 

Both are members of the Professional Photographers of America and they recently achieved "Special Kids Photography Accreditation" through the Special Kids Photography of America accreditation program.
